• What kind of skin concerns can ResurFX help with?

  ResurFX is designed with texture in mind. It may help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, enlarged pores, stretch marks, sun-damaged skin, and overall skin quality. It is most often used on the face, and can also be used on the neck, chest, hands, and body. Because it works on texture rather than color, it pairs well with IPL for guests who want to address tone and texture together.

• Is ResurFX suitable for all skin tones?

  It is suitable for many skin tones. ResurFX uses a 1565 nm wavelength that targets water in the skin rather than melanin, which makes it an option for a broad range of complexions. For deeper skin tones, your provider may use lower energy and density, recommend a test spot or a pigment-control regimen beforehand, and will discuss the possibility of temporary darkening. If you have melasma, please let us know – heat can sometimes aggravate it, and your provider may suggest a different approach.

• How is ResurFX different from an ablative laser like CO2?

  Ablative lasers remove the surface of the skin and may achieve more in a single session, but typically involve an open wound and one to two weeks of crusting and recovery. ResurFX is non-ablative: the surface stays intact while the laser works beneath it, so treatment is delivered as a short series rather than one intensive session, and downtime is generally a few days of redness and dryness rather than weeks.

• Does it hurt?

  Most guests describe the sensation as mild to moderate – warmth and a prickling feeling, sometimes compared to tiny sparklers on the skin. Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, and the handpiece’s built-in cooling helps take the edge off. Skin may feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn, for a few hours afterward.

• What is the downtime?

  Plan on around 3-5 days of social downtime. Redness and mild swelling are common for the first one to three days, often followed by a rough, sandpaper-like texture and light flaking as the skin renews – this may last up to a week or two. Many guests feel comfortable in public with mineral makeup after 24-48 hours. We recommend avoiding direct sun, heat, intense workouts, and exfoliating products for the first few days, and wearing SPF 30+ daily throughout your series. • How many sessions will I need, and when might I see results?

  Some guests notice smoother texture after a single session, but ResurFX is designed to be delivered as a series. For fine lines and general texture, 3 sessions is a common starting point; for acne scarring, stretch marks, or deeper concerns, 4-5 may be recommended. Sessions are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Improvement tends to build between sessions, and collagen remodeling may continue for several months after your last treatment. Results vary from person to person; many guests choose to maintain with one or two sessions a year.

• How does ResurFX compare to IPL?

  Think of it as texture versus tone. ResurFX is a fractional resurfacing laser designed to encourage collagen and help smooth the look of lines, scars, and pores. IPL targets color – sun spots, redness, and pigment – with little to no downtime, and is generally suited to light to medium skin. Many guests combine ResurFX with IPL in the same visit to address both.

• Can it be combined with other treatments?

  Yes. For eligible guests, ResurFX is often paired with IPL in a single session to address tone and texture together. It can also fit into treatment plans alongside wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers, microneedling, or PRP/PRF. Your provider will help sequence everything at your consultation.
